I love my job because…
I love my job because it allows me to make a living from drawing, which I’ve been passionate about since I was a child. Illustrating children’s books gave me a chance to express myself by contributing my perspective to different stories. I have the opportunity to create those illustrated worlds that I would have loved to see when opening a book as a child. My style is characterized by creating funny and expressive characters, so I’m almost always called upon to illustrate stories with humor and lots of movement, and this makes every project a lot of fun.
Being an author (illustrator) gave me the opportunity to be close to children, to see their reactions, and to understand how important books are to them. Now I’m the father of a teenager, and this job allows me to stay in touch with children and constantly update myself on what they enjoy and find fun, something that also keeps me connected to my inner child.

I love my life because…
I love my life because I was able to adapt it at a pace that allows me to enjoy my family, my friends, my work, and my free time. It wasn’t easy, but I was able to find a balance so that work doesn’t become routine and I can find a new challenge in each project to enjoy. Freelancing also allows me to manage my time. I have my studio in my home, and that allows me to enjoy what I love most: my daughter, my wife, and my two dogs.

Books are important because…
Books are important because they educate and stimulate imagination and creativity. Especially children’s books, which introduce children to reading and, from a very young age, create a bond between them and the person reading them. That’s why, as an author (illustrator), I feel a great commitment, responsibility, and joy in being part of the world of books!

Books I would recommend
I don’t dare recommend any particular genre or author… I think tastes are very subjective. I do recommend that they read and explore the topics that interest them most to create a connection with reading. And for children, I recommend that books always be within their reach, among their toys, or in a library at their level. They should be able to access them however and whenever they want.

Artists that I admire
I don’t think I can name anyone in particular, although I have artists I really like in the fields of illustration, literature, music, and film. Perhaps this question is specific, but I should mention that I always considered myself a worker before being an artist, so I should mention that I admire all workers. To all those who wake up every day to move the world, contributing their part to do good and bring joy to people.
